Incoming correspondence, ca.1857-1890.

Letters stem from the time that Lassen was music director in Weimar. The correspondents are primarily musicians and others connected with the musical world. Several letters are requests for performances of Lassen's owncompositions, such as Oedipus Rex and the Symphony in D major. A letter from Franz Dingelstedt, impressario at the Weimar Opera, discusses a Wagner production. Other correspondents include Peter Cornelius (Danis tenor), Joseph Servais (Begian cellist), Albert Traeger, Wilhelm Taubert (German pianist, conductor and composer), Jules de Swert (Belgian cellist and composer), Bernhard Cossmann (German cellist), Leopold Damrosch (German-American violinist and conductor), Emil Scaria (Austrian singer), Desiree Artot (Belgian soprano), Louis Brassin (French pianist), Robert Franz (German composer), Izydor Lotto (Polish composer), Hubert Leonard (Belgian violinist and composer), Catulle Mendes (French author), Edouard Schure (Austrian writer on music), Ernest Heinrich Anton Pasque, Aloys Schmitt (German pianist and composer) and Ferdinand Pauvels.
